Jens Porup

Jens is an expatriate novelist, playwright, and freelance journalist. He is the author of two novels: The Second Bat Guano War, a hard-boiled thriller set in Peru and Bolivia, and The Judas Syndrome, a story about the conflict in Colombia. His plays include Thy Fearful Symmetry, Very Skinny People, The Twelve Zorros, and Ariadne's Lament. Two of his short stories have been podcast by Wordknot Audio (now, sadly, defunct). He has written five guidebooks for Lonely Planet: Colombia, the Dominican Republic & Haiti, Venezuela, Caribbean Islands, and South American on a Shoestring. Jens studied Philosophy, ancient Greek, and Latin at Northwestern, playwriting and screenwriting at Chicago Dramatists, acting at ActOne Studios, and long-form improv at ImprovOlympic. A native of Sacramento, California, and a long-time resident of Chicago, Melbourne, Australia, and Cali, Colombia, he divides his time between North and South America.
